Matthew R. Bell's BookBlogBonanza!
Matthew R. Bell
So it's been a while since I made this blog, and I've never really made a dedicated About Me page, mainly because I have no idea what to say. I think I'll start off simple, my name is Matthew (Matty for those who've known me for a long time, but never Matt, Matt is my Dad) and I'm twenty-three. I live in Scotland, where the sun is forever playing a desperate game of hide-and-seek. I love books - if you hadn't noticed - of all kinds. I'm really someone who will read almost anything, as you'll see from my reviews.
I guess my intentions when I made this blog was just to be more active throughout the reading community; to give my thoughts and opinions on the books I read. I've spoken to lovely people throughout the experience and it's nice to be welcomed so warmly. My reviews are, hopefully, concise but in-depth. I think I keep them to-the-point because I like to be immersed when reading. I also never nitpick; I like taking a novel as a whole. If there's something that irks me throughout a book I can usually just shrug it off (unless it's prevalent and refuses to go away) and focus on the good.
I am a writer, but I always think of myself as a reader first. You can check out My Works page up top if you're interested in the stories I have to tell. I wouldn't say I'm perfect; I mean writing itself is a massively imperfect formula that's subjective to each person. But I do put my all into what I create, and hope that with time and each book I finish - either by reading or writing - I become a better author all round. It's a pleasure to be a part of both the reading and writing community, and I hope if you do pick up my books, that you find something in them to enjoy.
I sometimes do movie reviews, keeping them the same style I use for my book reviews, and I've been toying with the idea of setting up a separate blog for movies and TV shows. I think the small and big screens are wonderful mediums through which great stories can reach a wider audience, and I'd love to get my thoughts across in that area as well. (Edit: Something I've recently got around to; I'll leave the link to that blog below.)
I'll stop rambling now, and if you're here, on this blog and reading this section, then a big welcome from me. I hope you enjoy what I think and I'd love to get to know more people.
So don't be afraid to say hello.
I don't bite.
Add me, follow me, let's get talking!
